Introduction to MS Project Workshop

Primary instructor for URISA's GIS Program Management workshop, Pete Croswell is offering this 3 hour course as an overview of important Project Management topics, utilizing MS Project:

  • PM concepts and terms
  • PM best practices
  • Overview of interface and functionality
  • Task type and structure
  • Introduction to Project Views, Formatting
  • Timing constraints
  • Task Predecessors, lags, leads
  • Setting up new project plan

     
There is no additional fee for this session; however pre-registration is required. 
Participants must bring a laptop that can run Microsoft Project Management. The instructor willl have trial copies for this session.

Participants in this session will need to have Microsoft Project Standard or Project Professional software loaded and operating on their laptop computer BEFORE arriving.  This could be Project version 2010 or 2013 (but v2013 is preferred). Project version 2007 will NOT be acceptable since the interface is considerably different.  You may purchase the software from Microsoft or a third party distributor.  Also, Microsoft offers a free trial version of Project 2013 Professional which you may access at: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-help/professional-project-management-desktop-software-project-professional-FX103797571.aspx. Microsoft does not offer a trial version of Project Standard.  There may be third-party distributors that do offer trial downloads for Project Standard which you may try.  Prior to the conference, send an email message to the instructor, Peter Croswell (pcroswell@croswell-schulte.com) and he will reply with several sample files that will be used in the training.
